Position Summary:
Works under the direction of the Landscape Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining landscape and hardscaped areas. Oversees a crew of up to 10 gardeners and is responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks. All functions shall be performed in accordance with Landscape department and LEGOLAND California policies, practice, and procedures. The lead position is a “hands on” position performing maintenance tasks to include mowing, edging, pruning, hedging, weed/pest control and minor irrigation repair and monitoring. Will operate hand tools and power equipment in a safe, reliable manner. Performs other maintenance functions within the theme park and assist other maintenance MCs as deemed necessary by the Landscape Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for tools and power equipment within his / her assigned crew.
- Prioritizes and coordinates maintenance functions and MCs.
- Assists Landscape Supervisor in evaluating personnel by identifying and reporting employee progress or problems.
- Assists in coordinating and executing new plantings, color changes in annual flowerbeds and general improvement work.
- Monitors inventory of supplies and report needs to Landscape Supervisor.
- Notifies Landscape Supervisor of any pests, disease, or cultural problems for corrective action.
- Uses assigned tools and power equipment in a safe and prescribed manner, avoiding misuse, breakage, or loss.
- Reports broken or missing tools to immediate supervisor.
- Loads and unloads work vehicles.
- Performs prescribed maintenance procedures as directed such as: Mowing, edging, pruning, hedging, raking, sweeping, manual weeding and pest control.
- Applies granular chemicals and fertilizers. Records and reports use, and quantities of fertilizers and chemicals used.
- Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Has working knowledge of common landscape, trees, plants and groundcover; proper horticultural practices and procedures; common irrigation materials and methods.
- Keep tools, machines, and all other company equipment in clean and proper working order.
- Keep safety as #1 priority.
- Completes daily time and material (T&M) cards prior to leaving property.
- Assists in preparing and submitting paperwork for his/her MCs.
- Maintains liaison with fellow maintenance MCs and other departments.
- Performs related maintenance work as deemed necessary or required.
- Attentive to the safety of self, fellow employees, and the public.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient performance of MCs. Collaborate with leadership on employee performance evaluations.
- Attends weekly staff meetings.
- Computer knowledge for scheduling work and outlook knowledge.
