The Part-Time Facilities Technician keeps the magic running smoothly behind the scenes! From lighting and audio-visual systems to general repairs and upkeep, this role ensures every part of the attraction operates safely, efficiently, and at its very best.
You’ll jump in wherever needed — tackling planned and reactive maintenance with skill, care, and a can-do attitude. Whether you’re fine-tuning equipment, fixing a quick repair, or supporting special projects, you’ll play a key role in keeping the experience seamless for every guest who walks through our doors. ✨
Perform both routine and reactive maintenance throughout the attraction to ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient daily operation.
Troubleshoot and repair a variety of systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate show lighting, A/V systems, and special effects equipment to keep every guest experience magical.
Complete preventative maintenance tasks on schedule to minimize downtime and extend the life of critical equipment.
Support exhibit setup and takedown, assist with general facility repairs, painting, and light construction as needed.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces, following all OSHA and Merlin safety procedures.
Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently while ensuring equipment is in proper working order.
Collaborate with fellow team members and departments to quickly resolve maintenance issues and uphold attraction quality standards.
Monitor building systems and report potential safety or fire hazards promptly.
Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and inventory usage to ensure smooth operation.
Contribute to a positive, guest-first culture by ensuring all behind-the-scenes systems help deliver a seamless and unforgettable experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Ability to obtain related licensures or certification as may be required to perform the essential function of the
position or as required by law.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to hear, listen, and communicate effectively with others.
Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods, including performing job functions for the full shift with scheduled meal breaks.
Regularly bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, and crouch to complete daily maintenance activities.
Use basic computer tools and programs as part of daily responsibilities.
Safely grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Move freely throughout all areas of the attraction, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Wear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job functions.
May be required to operate heavy power equipment and work at heights exceeding 20 feet.
May work with or around corrosive materials, hazardous chemicals, fluorescent lamps, batteries, and hazardous waste.
Must be comfortable working in environments that may be loud or subject to temperature and humidity changes.
